Surprising Finland
Junior Men’s: Cold shower for Argentina against France
Yet, France quickly ruined the local joy. The French gave no hope to the Argentineans, who were taking part in their first Worlds Championships. With a score of 3-0 at the break, and 8-0 at the end of the game, the French shot more than 40 times for the cage, against a small dozen times for their opponents.
Senior Women’s: Surprising Finnish
The nice surprise of the first day of competition came from Finland, the team gets away with a well-deserved tie game against the American team, that wasn’t thought to have any direct challenger. Against the USA, the Finnish even treated themselves to opening the score after 7 minutes of play. The two teams traded tit for tat with very different styles of play, before the USA took the advantage at the end of the game. But the removal of the European goalie at the end of the game allowed Finland to tie, 26 seconds before the buzzer, on a lob shot ending up behind the back of the great American goalie.
The organization setting up
As for the organization, it seems to be setting up, the crowd for the first game is promising for the rest of the event, there should be public in the stands. The hockey court shows a few problems in terms of space, but the real problem comes from the live stream. So far, it is still to be confirmed. The FIRS will have to decide, but there will probably be only a few games streamed live.
To the program of Monday, June 8th: The game between Argentina and Finland will be interesting to follow in the Women’s category, while in the Junior’s, the USA-Switzerland and Colombia-Spain should arouse interest. The French Juniors will meet Mexico at 6:45pm local time to confirm their leader status.
