Lap circuit
The lap circuit format is brand-new, just like the 100 m of the previous day. The aim is to replace the 500 m race that also exists on track to make more difference between the road and track formats. This race offered high speeds and suspense to the road circuit of Kaohsiung (Chinese Taipei), which is mainly made of soft curves and strait lines. Colombia won in all categories with Andrea Canon (junior women), Jaime Uribe (junior men), Hellen Montoya (senior women) and Edwin Estrada (senior men)…
Junior Women
After the series in the morning, the finals took place in the afternoon. Due to the rain of the previous day, the schedule had to be modified.
The Colombians did a double in the junior women’s, getting the gold and silver. Andrea Canon (COL) won in front of her team mate Geiny Pajaro (COL). Local skater Yu-Ting Yen (TPE) completed the podium.
Junior Men
Here again, a very strategical race for Colombia. Jaime Uribe (COL) won, followed by Alvaro Carrasquilla (COL). Just like in the junior women’s, it’s a local skater, Kun Tsao (TPE), who got the bronze.
Senior Women
Helen Montoya (COL) and Yersi Puello (COL) took the lead of the race right away. Yersi Puello controlled the race to enable Hellen Montoya to widen the gap. Once her team mate at reasonable distance, she secured the second place in front of Soyeong Shin (KOR).
Senior Men
Edwin Estrada (COL) is a cut above the rest! It was the feeling you got, witnessing him standing a good dozen meters before the finish line and looking back to watch the battle for silver between Gwendal Le Pivert (FRA) and Simon Albrecht (GER).
