2015 Worlds of Speed Skating : The relays, last races on track

Results of the relay races

Junior Women: On the edge

Les relais sur pisteThe Asian teams keep on growing in numbers and level, proof was once more with the track relays of Kaohsiung! The fight for the Top-3 was rough for the junior women. South Korea only managed to impose themselves on the finish line with a tiny 2-cm lead. They can be proud of having won against such high level teams. They finished in front of the Colombian armada with twice-titled Luz Karime Garzon, and Andrea Canon, Sarmiento Kerstinck, and Geiny Pajaro. Third place went to Chinese Taipei, two tenths behind.

Junior Men: South Korea again

It was just as if the girls had opened the way to the boys. South Korean Byeonkwan Jeong, Cheolwon Jung and Mingi Kim crossed the finish line in front of the skilled Italian team, including Daniel Niero et Marco de Flavis. Chinese Taipei got the bronze. The three teams completed the race with less than a second of difference. France and Colombia were disqualified for the final.

Senior Women: Until the end

A very tight race for the senior women! The skaters from Chinese Taipei made their public stand up and cheer. Yang Ho-Chen, Kuo Chia-Pei and Li Meng-Chu seized the victory from the Colombian steamroller made of Johana Viveros, Fabiana Arias and Paola Segura… for 5 hundredths! The Germans, Mareike Thum, Laetishia Schimek and Sabine Berg fought until the end, only giving way in the last meters. They finished just in front of the Americans. Only 2 tenths separate the Top-4!

Senior Men

The French were expected, after their winning the title last year in Rosario. Alexis Contin, Ewen Fernandez and Elton de Souza performed a controlled race from A to Z. But the formidable South Korean hawk finish wiped out the French hopes for a new title… finishing 5 hundredths ahead. Results : South Korea, France and Venezuela. Colombia didn’t complete the race.
