BMW Berlin Marathon: the top favourites
BMW Berlin Marathon 2011: the top favourites will be on the start line to beat the record.

Participants from over 50 countries make the BMW BERLIN MARATHON an international fest. Both those skating for fun and the crème de la crème of the speed skaters celebrate their season highlight at the largest inline marathon in the world.
Berlin is also considered to be one of the fastest marathon courses in the world. The current course record is an amazing 1:00:32 h, set by Joey Mantia in 2008. This year, the chances are better than ever that a skater will break the one-hour barrier in Berlin: Mantia (Team Simmons/Schänkel) wants to personally beat his own personal course record. However, with Severin Widmer and Nicolas Iten from Switzerland (both Swiss Skate Team), two skaters will be competing who have already won in Berlin.
What would the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON be without the glamorous dream couple of the skating scene: Cecilia “Chechy” Baena and Yann Guyader (both POWERSLIDE MATTER World Team). In love, engaged, married – this year they will be coming to Berlin freshly wed. A double win would be the perfect conclusion to their honeymoon. But Baena’s constant rival and last year’s champion Giovanna Turchiarelli (ALESSI World Team) will also be back in the capital. With Sabine Berg, Jana Gegner and Katharina Rumpus three German women also belong in the list of absolute top favourites this year.
