A short biography of August Löhner
The Austrian August Löhner was a watchmaker and was born in Vienna. On November 19, 1825, he acquired the Patent No. 598 for the invention of his “mechanical gear shoes”, three years after Robert John Tyers.
The roller skate consisted of a wooden sole. At the heel, two wheels were attached side by side. At the front of the sole, there was only one wheel. He built a system in the wheels, which prevented the reversing. The appearance of the skates reminds of a three-wheeler.
