Silvia Marangoni, Federal coach of inline figure skating in Italy

Hello Silvia, thank you for answering our questions. First of all, the inline community salutes your prize list, 11 times world champion in artistic inline! How did you start inline art?

I started in 1995, when Risport invested in inline skates and wanted to sponsor them both in Italy and abroad. I remember participating with exhibitions at the American championships in 1995. Then in 1996 in Italy there were national level competitions and then it ended up a bit forgotten, to then make its entry in 2002 at the world championships in Wuppertal in Germany.

How long have you been a coach?

I’ve been a coach since I was 18. At the beginning I only followed the kids who started skating and then over the years I started following the competitive spirit.

Silvia Marangoni, since when do you follow the Italian national artistic inline team?

I have been following the Italian national team since 2018.

Which disciplines are represented in Italy with regard to artistic inline? and at what level?

In Italy, the Federation has a national circuit that takes place over four stages, where there are free specialties and solo dance, and the Italian championship for only free. The Italian federation has thought of all skaters
from amateurs to agonists. They are divided into four divisions to give everyone the opportunity to compete.

What were the difficulties and the solutions brought to bring the discipline into your federation?

I have to admit that the Italian Federation has always been very helpful in making inline skating grow, it has always been very proactive and never problematic.

Silvia Marangoni, do you hope that solo dance, the group (quartet, show) will one day be represented in artistic inline at World Skate?

I hope that in the future there will be all disciplines in World Skate.

How were the judges of the Italian Roller Federation trained in artistic inline?

The Italian judges were trained through training courses held by qualified personnel.

Who are your current athletes?

I don’t train in a single club so I don’t have athletes that I follow every day. Let’s say that I follow all the athletes who practice inline skating in Italy 🙂

How do you see the future of the discipline on a global level?

All over the world I see that the inline skate is used a lot, I also see that the technical level has risen. Enrollments both nationally and internationally have grown and I hope it continues like this!

Thank you for your answers Silvia Marangoni. We wish you an excellent season 2023!
