5th step in the Europa Cup 2014 in Mechelen (Belgium)

The fifth stage of the Europa Cup 2014 held in Mechelen (Belgium) from 9 to 11 May 2014. The 13th edition is organized by the Fratelli Team.

The International Speedskating Event in Mechelen might not be the biggest speedskating event in Europe, but it offers nice and top qualitative races! As a founding member of the European Cup, this race participates now for the fourth time in this important European Speedskating circuit. Last year, over 300 skaters saw fascinating races between the European top against top racers from Columbia and Chili. This resulted in an – unofficial – world record for Andres Munoz (COL) on the 500 meter. Maarten Swings improved the Belgian 5.000 meter record and Oliver Jones wiped Kalon Dobbin off the New Zealand record list also on the 500 meter! Yes, the track in Mechelen is really fast!
