The 2019 Roller Games will be held in Nanjin (China)

The SportAccord Convention took place in Sochi (Russia). FIRS (Federation International of Roller Sports) took part in the event and came back with good news. Here is the press release…

From Sochi great confirmations for the Roller Sports

“Dear friends,

We are back from the SportAccord Convention which took place in Sochi and this year more than ever I am proud to tell you about a FIRS increasingly present, active and respected in the institutional sports world: it has come to light indeed, with no doubt, that the policy and networking operation that we are carrying out for years, is finally beginning to produce effects and tangible fruits: I think, for example, about the widespread appreciation for the Roller Games project that, as you well know, I have always considered the springboard for an effective and efficient improvement in our world, or about the great increasing interest for the FIRS world Cup, a new project that is going to be realized.
In less than four months, we have been able not only to define the first stages of the World Cup, but also to assign the first three editions of the Roller Games in three important cities of three Continents with a great sporting culture: Barcelona, Nanjing and Lima !
In fact, just during the SportAccord Convention we signed the agreement with the President of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, José Quiñones and the Regidor of the City of Lima Carlos Fernando Canales Anchorena for five stages in five years of the World Cup and for the third edition of the Roller Games. And in these days I am leaving for Asia to sign the final agreement that will define Nanjing as Capital of Roller Sports with a series of events that will culminate with the second edition of the Roller Games in 2019.
In a time in which it is increasingly difficult to find places willing to organize class sporting events, the flexibility and the quality of what the Roller Sports may offer are opening up every day new prospects, that will allow us to distinguish ourselves in the international sports scene.
A confirmation in this sense also comes from my appointment by SportAccord as Chairman of the Urban Games Committee: a great recognition to me as well as to the Roller Sports as leading disciplines of the more attractive multisports events in the coming years!

I will not tell you about the many meetings which we attended, but about the most important ones, including the meeting with the Russian Deputy Minister of Sport, Mr. Pavel Kolobkov, to implement the Roller Sports in Russia: a continuously growing movement, especially in disciplines that use in-line skates, that attract their attention and that they would like to consolidate. And, certainly, I cannot overlook the meeting with Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah who, in the wake of the great success of the Roller Sports in Nanjing, confirmed our possible inclusion in the Asian Games starting from Jakarta 2018.
And finally, the Olympic Project.
After a meeting with the Sports Director of the Organizing Committee of Tokyo 2020, Koji Murofushi, we realized and sent a video ad hoc (that you can see at this link http://firs.rollersports.tv/))in order to present in these days to his Executive Board the proposal for the inclusion of the Roller Sports in the Olympic Games and we are awaiting further directives from the IOC on how the International Federations will have to move, to take further steps.
You can understand then, dear friends, why I am increasingly convinced that the great work and the great efforts made in these years are finally giving the results we all hoped for!
